Aging of the face and neck is inevitable. In time, lines and wrinkles develop around the eyes and mouth, skin laxity is seen along the cheeks and neck, the skin’s pore size increases, and the youthful appearance slowly diminishes. There are a variety of factors that are involved in how we age including our genes, sun exposure, smoking, sleep and our overall lifestyle. Although such changes are gradual, it is not uncommon for patients to convey a more rapid onset of aging in relation to a life event, such as the birth of a child. Fortunately, there are a variety of non-surgical therapies available for skin rejuvenation – the most advanced being Laser Enhanced Plasma Therapy.

LEP therapy has been developed to provide comprehensive and natural skin rejuvenation through a complementary application of plasma therapy and laser/energy treatments. Your blood is drawn in similar fashion to any laboratory study. At this point the plasma is then separated from the blood and infused into the soft tissues of the face or neck. Treatments areas may include the forehead, eyes, temples, midface, lower face and neck. Variations in skin color, texture and laxity are addressed on an individual basis to determine the most appropriate laser/energy application. Unfortunately LEP therapy does not substitute for more advanced surgical treatments such as a facelift, brow lift or blepharoplasty. However, these procedures may be combined with LEP therapy. Results specific to LEP therapy includes firming of the skin, decreases pore size, reduction of sun related pigment changes, and elimination fine lines and wrinkles. As with any healing process, changes are noted to begin in approximately three weeks and reach full effect in 90 to 120 days.

A complete LEP therapy takes approximately two to three hours in length and is commonly performed with the use of sedatives and topical analgesics. All efforts are made to ensure your complete comfort. The therapy is an outpatient procedure and you will be able to return home within one hour of your treatment. There is minor discomfort after the surgery, but this commonly disappears in twenty-four hours. Most patients return to work or public life in a matter of days. There may be residual swelling which is limited and may last for one to two weeks.
