Laser Hair Reduction

We employ the CoolGlide® Laser to safely, effectively, and permanently remove hair from all regions of the body, such as the face, legs, arms, underarms, back, and even sensitive areas like the chest and bikini line.

At the Larrabee Center for Plastic Surgery in Seattle, we use 21st-century laser technology for the treatment of unwanted hair for both men and women. Enough with the painful waxing and troublesome razors! When it comes to achieving permanent hair reduction, we use the Cutera CoolGlide® Laser to treat people of all skin types safely and effectively, year-round.

The CoolGlide Laser is safe and effective for all skin tones and can remove hair from all parts of the body, including:

  • Face
  • Legs
  • Arms
  • Underarms
  • Back

Even sensitive areas, like the chest and bikini line, can be effectively treated with minimal discomfort.

How Does Laser Hair Removal Work?

Because not all the follicles in a given region of the body are producing hair at the same time, multiple treatment sessions are required to permanently eliminate hair growth. Typically, an area of the body will require between four to eight treatments delivered at intervals of four to eight weeks apart.

It’s worth noting, however, that a significant reduction of hair in the treated area may be apparent after your first visit.

Laser hair removal works because it disables hairs that are actively growing at the time of treatment. The Cutera CoolGlide Laser has unique properties among hair removal lasers, such as a longer wavelength and a truly innovative cooling system that, taken together, bring patients hair removal results that are not only effective and safe, but permanent. As the CoolGlide Laser handpiece travels along the surface of your skin, the cooling system gives the experience a soothing sensation. As the pulses of light are delivered, you may experience a mild stinging sensation, but no local anesthesia is typically needed. That being said, if you’re having a very sensitive area treated, you may certainly request that a topical anesthetic be used.

How Many Treatments Will Be Needed?

Most of the time, a given region of the body needs between three and six treatments to achieve the full effect.

When you leave after your first session, you may notice that the treated area appears slightly swollen and reddened—but that will subside in short order. Between three days to a week after the treatment, you’re likely to experience what looks by all accounts like the re-growth of hair. But don’t fret! This is actually hair that is being shed by the body as a result of the laser treatment.

Please note that between sessions it’s okay to shave, but you should not wax or pluck in the treated area.
