A mid-facelift differs from a full facelift because it isn’t as rigorous of a procedure. However, the mid-facelift can be used to combat various signs of aging (like a facelift). If you are looking for a procedure that can help you look younger while not requiring you to have a full facelift, this procedure might be the answer you’re looking for.
As we age, our skin begins to lose its elasticity, and the tissues in the cheeks and jowls begin to descend. The result of this natural (and inevitable) process is threefold: an increased heaviness in the jowls, hollowness around the eyes, and the deepening of the folds around the mouth.
The mid-facelift in Seattle, WA is a key component of the cosmetic procedures that can be effectively used to fight these signs of aging. By working to elevate the soft tissues in the cheeks (as well as the surrounding areas), the mid-facelift effectively takes years off your appearance by lifting your cheek tissue into a higher, more youthful position.
Is a Mid-Facelift Right for You?
If your goal is to rejuvenate your face without having to endure the rigors of a full facelift, a mid-facelift might be just the answer you’re looking for. Let’s take a closer look at the aesthetic effects a mid-facelift can help you accomplish:
- Elevate your cheeks
- Bring back a natural roundness to the cheeks
- Restore youthful fullness to the mid-face
- Lessen the depth of the nasolabial folds that run from the corners of your mouth to up the nose
How It Works
When you come in for your private consultation at the Larrabee Center in Seattle, you’ll get to discuss your goals for facial rejuvenation in detail. If it’s determined that a mid-facelift will help you meet those goals, Dr. Larrabee also Dr. Susan Kurian will explain how the procedure works and what the recovery process will entail.
Long-term scarring will be effectively minimized with this procedure because the surgical incisions will be made behind the hairline in the temple.
In some cases, additional work is done via incisions that are made in the mouth (and therefore entirely hidden), in order to ensure that the cheeks are returned to their full youthful position. These incisions are closed with dissolvable stitches.
The recovery period after your mid-facelift entails some mild discomfort and facial swelling. The stitches on the exterior incisions behind the hairline are removed seven to ten days after the procedure.
Altogether, you can expect to return to work and your normal daily life in approximately two to three weeks, though it typically takes six to eight weeks for the swelling to dissipate altogether.
For many of our patients at Larrabee, the mid-facelift is done in conjunction with other procedures as part of a total facial rejuvenation package. These include:Â
- Neck lift
- Brow lift (also called the forehead lift)
- Upper or lower eyelid surgery
- Laser skin resurfacing
